Workshop Wednesday: Modern Middle Eastern Feast

With its vivid colours and bold flavours, this is one of Maddie’s favourite cuisines! She will show you how you can create a modern take on a Middle Eastern feast, to suit your summer dinner table. You will take away some fresh ideas for this summer’s parties, including indulgent vegetable dips, super-speedy flat breads and desserts to die for.

You are welcome to bring your favourite wine; we only charge a small corkage fee. Maddie will let her creativity flow and you will have the chance to experience a menu infused with seasonal flavours and created with a vivid mix of herbs and nature’s best offerings. The menu will be published 2 weeks in advance, so keep an eye out if you would like to know what wine to bring….or just come and be pleasantly surprised!

Workshop Wednesday: Eat Yourself Young

Good flavoursome food makes us happy and importantly, should also make us healthy. In this workshop you will learn how to eat and cook without the need to compromise between the two! Experienced nutritionist Sarah Zorab and Maddie from Blid & Hatton Gatherings, will show you how to eat deliciously, whilst choosing food that counteracts premature ageing and encourage strong bone health to prevent illness later in life. Sarah will talk you through how we can improve our general health, as well as the condition of our hair, skin and nails through optimum nutrition throughout life. The talk is followed by Maddie treating you to an inspiring lunch, which translates Sarah’s knowledge and shows a range of tasty recipes using ingredients from nature’s own pharmacy of veg and fruit. You will be given a Nutrition Information pack, as well as a booklet of inspirational recipes. The workshop is for anyone with an interest in optimum nutrition when ageing, but especially useful for the 35+ .
Workshop Wednesday: Fermentation Fundamentals

Fermented foods have been around for a long time, but are especially hot on the UK food scene at the moment. Think Korean kimchi, sourdough and yoghurt! This fermentation workshop is being led by Alana Holloway, Fodder & Plonk blogger extraordinaire. Fermentation Fundamentals: Vegetables, is a workshop-based introduction to making fermented foods. Create popular vegetable ferments such as sauerkraut, kimchi and a range of traditionally pickled vegetables, using various herbs and spices to create a bespoke flavour profile. Workshop includes:
An overview of fermented foods and how they support a healthy body.
Sampling a range of fermented vegetables.
Jar sterilisation techniques.
Hands on: making and creating your own fermented vegetables.
How to care for your fermented vegetables.
How to include fermented foods into your daily diet.

Maddie will create a special lunch, incorporating some of Alana’s lovely fermented goods for you to enjoy! Guests will take home everything they make, including one large jar of sauerkraut, one large jar of kimchi and 3 medium jars of pickles, along with a Fodder + Plonk tote bag filled with lovely goodies and recipe cards.
Workshop Wednesday: Maddie’s Summer Desserts

In this demonstration dedicated to all things sweet, Maddie will teach you to make enticing recipes from the incredibly simple to the elegantly impressive. By the end of the session you will have learned many tips and tricks for pudding success and you’ll have created something special to share with others. Light lunch and a fabulous selection of puddings will be served and devoured at the end of the session.
Workshop Wednesday: Bake With Jack

We are delighted to have Jack, from Bake with Jack, joining us for a session at the Food Studio! Jack has built up a following from bread lovers across the South East. He will guide you through each step towards making fabulous breads. The workshop will be part hands-on and part demonstration, with a light lunch and newly baked bread towards the end. All participants will get to take home their delicious produce. Jack says, “I will show you how to make some of my favourite types of breads. I remove the ‘error’ in ‘trial and error’ and equip you with the knowledge you need to ensure your future baking is a roaring success, time after time.” A chef since 2002, he has been teaching bread making to people in their own homes all over the south of England since 2012, proving it is possible to produce beautiful, wholesome artisan bread in any environment.
Workshop Wednesday: Ozlem’s Turkish Table

International chef and Turkish Cookery teacher Ozlem Warren will take your senses on a journey back to her native Turkey. Join her for a feast of Turkish cookery, featuring wholesome and delicious spicy bulgur wheat salad with pomegranate molasses, stuffed aubergines with minced meat and vegetables, savory filo pastry with spinach and feta, stuffed baked dried apricots and more. You will get the chance to get a hands-on experience led by the charismatic Ozlem. She will show you how to recreate these delicious, healthy dishes as well as tips on preparation in advance, substitution, flavoring through spices and information on Turkish cuisine.
Homemade and Wholesome Sweet Treats

Life without treats is not worth living. This workshop led by Alana Holloway of Fodder & Plonk shows you how to make delicious sweets that are also good for us. A must for those with a sweet tooth and any sweet loving teenage children, you will learn how to make sweet treats without the use of refined sugar, dairy or gluten. Create a range of raw, chocolatey and fruity sweet treats to take home with you. Workshop includes:
An overview of gluten free flours and flour alternatives, sugar alternatives: fructose free, unrefined and natural sweeteners and dairy alternatives.
Sampling a range of healthy treats.
Discussion about why healthy treats have a place in a sustainable, healthy diet and lifestyle.
