The walled garden

The main garden is a wonderful 2 acres of space to relax or play. Surrounded by the magnificent 160-year-old formidable walls we welcome you to come and experience the nurturing simplicity of this lovely space.

Hidden from the outside world the garden provides the perfect place for individuals, friends and families to enjoy some good medicine.

Currently the garden is in its infancy but at the start of a new phase in its history. We aim to create, over time, a seasonal garden that stimulates the senses and provides a reflective and inspirational space.

We have already created a compass with the planting of 8 Olive trees and creation of circular beds that are now full of bulbs, lavender and Sage. There is a children's play area and decked seating areas on which to eat, drink and relax.

Future plans include a path linking the 8 trees and seating areas around each one, wild flower planting, espaliered fruit trees on the walls, a central water feature and plants to attract more wildlife. We regally use our garden for community events but it is also available for private hire.
