Intro to Mindful Parenting

Mindful parenting returns this summer with a series of half day practical workshops. Learn how to be more present with your children and respond rather than react to day to day stress in family life. Mindfulness teacher, Sam Weerasinghe from SamMantra and Lauretta Cundy, a Coaching Psychologist from Mad About My Life, have been running regular 6-week parenting programmes since last year. As a taster day for next Autumn’s programme, these summer workshops are designed for those parents that wish to equip themselves with some practical coping tools, including an introduction to mindfulness practices to support them and their children. Covering key topics from stress management and family communications all participants will receive a mini tool kit of exercises and handouts at the end of the day. In this hands-on class, the recipes are free from refined sugars and wheat, and we will be using seasonal ingredients sourced locally including The Medicine Garden! We will be discussing the benefits and different qualities of using alternative ingredients to achieve delicious results that will help from a both dietary and nutritional perspective! During the class you will learn the fundamentals of modern calligraphy and how to use a dip pen and ink. The workshop will begin with practicing the basic strokes before moving onto the alphabet and then time will be spent developing your own lettering style. Mindfulness Refresher Class

Open to all who have attended SamMantra’s classes, courses or workshops, and to those who have completed a mindfulness course before or have their own meditation practice. This top up session is a chance to renew your practice during a mindful morning of shared stillness and reflection. It’s not always easy to keep the practice going after finishing a mindfulness course, so this class offers a chance to refresh your practice alongside others. Bring along a yoga mat, blanket and warm clothes, as this session will include breath work, sitting meditation, mindful movement and a silent garden walk. Sourdough Series Classes – Beginner and Intermediate

Sourdough is one of the most ancient forms of bread making, and also the most satisfying! Using a starter to replace yeast in the recipes, this gives the unmistakable tang and texture to sourdough breads. We have teamed up with the brilliant Kate Ampomah, owner of Eat & Mess, who runs baking classes in London and Kent, to launch a mini-series of Sourdough baking. Depending on your experience of baking, you can sign up to part 1 for beginners and/or part 2 for intermediate level bakers.
